I have 21 quick access shortcuts in total and i could not find a single solution searching online that would work to fix this issue permanently and through Windows 10 update of the last 3 version this issue has persisted. My computer is connected to a local domain active directory server running windows 10 pro x I have explored a number of solution from different web site.
I will only focus on the solution that worked for me so that other people dealing with the same scenario may attempt to correct. In order to use this solution you must have system restore turned on for your C drive. Copy the content of the archieve folder back into the current "Automatic Destinations" folder I find that deleting all other files in the "Automatic Destination" extends the time period until my quick access shortcuts disappear again.
If anyone has dealt with this issue and have a permanent solution or the cause of this behavior please chime in. Since you are using Windows Pro, you could try changing the security of the specific files the next time you restore them so that they won't be deleted.
Right click on the file, properties, security tab, and click the advanced button. Make a note of each entry in the list.
For each identity in the list, click add, select a principal. Find that identity and click OK. Change the type to Deny, click Show advanced permissions. Clear all the checkboxes and check "Delete". It will look like this: Click OK. Repeat until all the entries have a deny delete permission.
Seems like the logical route to take. Iv'e applied your suggestion to file permissions and will need to wait and see if helps to remedy the problem. I'm not sure however this is going to do the trick because when pinned shortcuts disappear the file are all there so I'm assuming some sort of file modification rather than deletion.
I also noticed the folder gets more and more files saved in it as time goes by. Will just have to wait and see. Considering Microsoft have not fixed this close to 2-years and multiple windows 10 major updates who knows when it will get a permanent fix.
